Empties! Winter Edition

Look at that glorious array of empty bottles. I find it so satisfying to use up a product. Why?  Well, it means I get to buy a new one to try.  I have a goodly portion of full-sized items here that I've already reviewed, but also lots of samples.  From roughly left to right, here is a round-up of my impressions - those with preexisting reviews are linked:

  • Aveda Brilliant Retexturing Gel - used it up but still hate the scent
  • Kensington Apothecary Superfruit Tonic - not impressed
  • Smashbox Full Exposure Waterproof Mascara: I never reviewed this because it was so unremarkable. When waterproof formulas smudge, I get very annoyed.
  • Aveda Be Curly Curl Enhancer: worked ok with styling product added but would not repurchase
  • Simple Hydrating Cleansing Oil: a decent drugstore oil cleanser
  • NYX Doll Eye Mascara: one of my favorites, and I can't believe I haven't reviewed it!  This is a fiber mascara that gives me great separation and length. No smudging!
  • Malin+Goetz Vitamin E moisturizer: very rich and healing. The vitamin E in this is great if you have any irritation you want to heal.
  • Korres Wild Rose Brightening Sleeping Facial: I dunno about a facial, but it's a rich night face cream that worked ok but was unremarkable
  • Missha TIme Revolution First Treatment Essence: excellent toner. I will probably repurchase this at some point.
  • Bumble and Bumble Don't Blow It: didn't like the full-sized version but felt compelled to use up this sample. Still don't like it.
  • Dr. Hauschka Lavender Sandalwood Calming Body Wash: I loved this and am seriously tempted to buy a full-sized bottle. I just need to use up some soap first.
  • By Terry Baume de Rose: I prefer this packaging to the little pot in which you stick your finger (ugh) but the product doesn't work for me. It irritates my lips.
  • Algenist Gentle Rejuvenating Cleanser: not a fan.
  • Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre: I actually did not even use up this sample because it was making my face break out. I know this is a favorite for folks with super dry skin but it was too much for me.
  • Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Shampoo: a giant bottle that took forever to use up, but I did like this. Pleasantly scented, it had a great balance between cleaning my hair and not drying it out.
  • Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation Moisturizer: this is probably the third sample pot of this that I've used up. It is such a wonderful, simple moisturizer. I should probably buy a full-sized version.
  • Christophe Robin Regenerating Mask: effective at deep conditioning but drugstore products are competitive with it. Not worth the price they charge.
  • Natura Bisse The Cure Cream: I found this over-scented for skincare but it's a thick, rich cream that is nice at night.
  • Ciro Cell Red Algae Clarifying Mask: I left this on exactly 20 seconds because after that, I felt it burning my face and frantically scrubbed it off. Beware. Awful.
  • Verb Hydrating Mask: very nice deep conditioner. I found this more effective than the aforementioned Christophe Robin product.
  • Oscar Blandi Protein Mist: This is on my list to review because it's a holy grail product but I haven't been in a rush to tell you about it because I very much fear it's discontinued.  I bought 5 bottles on ebay. Oops.
  • Tata Harper Replenishing Nutrient Complex: wonderful. I may repurchase for next winter.
  • Tata Harper Purifying Cleanser: fantastic but I have since discovered that I like the Refreshing Cleanser even more.
  • Darphin Aromatic Cleansing Balm: Just hold your nose at the price and buy it. It's luxurious.
  • June Jacobs Brightening Moisturizer: nice as a sample but I would not purchase
  • Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm: I see why some like to use this to remove makeup. It is a waxy solid that dissolves in your hands into oil. I find oil cleanser a bit less messy, but this is certainly effective.
  • Minus 417 Foot Cream: a nice, rich cream that I used on my feet all winter
  • Karuna Flawless Skin Kit: lots of fun to try all of the masks in this kit and I even found a few favorites
  • Davines OI All in One Milk: magic for my hair. I don't want to ever be without it.
