Review: Hermes Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate
This new Hermes cologne sneaked by me for a while, but when I saw it on offer from my favorite ebay seller for a nice discount off retail, I looked it up. A new Hermes, you say? Based on rhubarb, you say? I'M IN. I bought it blind and I'm very happy with my choice. First, it starts off with a blast of sweet grapefruit. I think this is supposed to be rhubarb, and they do smell similar, but to me it is all grapefruit. The citrus top note lasts for about an hour, and then it fades to a berry and musk accord. Keep in mind, this is a cologne, so longevity is not its forte. I need to re-spritz every few hours. Totally worth it, though. I really enjoy Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate for what it is: a simple, well-done fruity cologne.
