Review: NYX Retractable Lip Liners in Vanilla Sky and Sienna
I think my love for NYX lip liners is pretty well-established on this blog. (See this review for Purple Rain and Nude Pink and this one for Nectar.) I love their creamy texture but my one complaint has always been the pencil design that requires sharpening. Imagine my delight when I discovered NYX makes retractable lip liners now! I don't know if I've been living under a rock and these have been widely available for a long time - please forgive my ignorance if that's the case. Either way, these are just as good as the pencil kind in terms of performance and the packaging upgrade makes them everything my little heart desires in a lip liner. The colors are highly pigmented and vibrant enough to wear on their own. Vanilla Sky is a pretty nude, while Sienna is a vibrant red.
I do have another complaint, though. NYX decided to put "waterproof" on the tubes, which made my heart race in excitement at the prospect of a lip liner that does not budge through a full day of eating and drinking. This is not the case. You definitely will need to retouch after a meal, or even just after a beverage. I don't know if they maybe meant it would be waterproof in the rain? Or in the pool? I.e, water-involved scenarios that are not as lip-intensive as eating or drinking. In any case, having my lip liner last through either of those scenarios is not really as useful as having it last through the normal, everyday event of drinking a bottle of water. Not cool to raise our expectations like that, NYX!
