Review: Beauty for Real D-Fine Lip Pencil
I received this lip pencil (lipliner, really) in one of my Glossyboxes and have finally gotten around to testing it. The brand, Beauty for Real, is not one I've heard of but they appear to have a fairly professional website and e-shop if you're interested in exploring. They market this lipliner as the ONLY lipliner you will ever need. They don't even sell a color range, just this shade. I'm a bit put off by this because they say this shade is nude for everyone. Assuming everyone's lips are the same color? Why? Clearly, they aren't. On me, this goes on the lips a deep pink that is decidedly not my natural shade, and if I had wanted to wear a nude lipstick with it, it would change the color of the lipstick. We're off to a bad start from the get-go.
Let's discuss the packaging and performance. It's a cheap-looking and -feeling black plastic casing with a twist-up design. Applause for the twist-up (I despise sharpeners) but only tentative applause, because it's difficult to use and has a feel as though it may break in the not so distant future. The texture of the product is nice going on the lips - it feels fairly creamy (though not as soft and creamy as my NYX liner.) It also lasts very well. I do find it drying, however, and by the end of the day when I wear it, my lips need quite a bit of TLC. For this, and all of the complaints listed above, I fear I have to give this one a thumbs-down.
