Review: Tom Ford Silvered Topaz Eyeshadow Palette
Yep, I seem to have fallen hard for Tom Ford eyeshadow - this is my third (gulp!). This is Silvered Topaz. I absolutely love 3 of these shades and find them very versatile. The glitter shade is, well, glittery. And kind of annoying. But let's do the positive first. There is a matte brown-purple shade that works well as both a smoky eye base and liner. It blends like a dream -- they all do, really, but good blending is especially noteworthy in a matte. Then there is an antique gold shade and a light minky pewter, both with shimmer but not chunky glitter. These go on silky and smooth, and also layer wonderfully with each other and the matte shade. And then there's the gold glitter. Ok, I'm not contesting it's prettiness. Or that on the eyes, it adds beautiful sparkle. But all the Tom Ford glitter shades are packed ridiculously hard and you have to dig your brush in or use them wet. In the former case, the glitter gets everywhere and most of it is not on the eyes. In the latter, I just find that annoying - it tends to ruin the rest of my look when I have to moisten my brush just for the crowning glitter. This is why I so wish Tom Ford would do custom palettes: if I could pick only the matte and shimmery shades, I'd buy ever so more.
