Review: Shiseido Eyeshadow Trio in Snow Shadow
I have heard great things about the Shiseido trios so expectations were high for this palette. I love the color scheme - from left to right, you have a deep navy, a silver, and a white. All are shimmery and have duochrome qualities. The colors are complex in a way it's hard to capture on camera. Here are some finger swatches:
What's not immediately apparent from these photos is the slightly disappointing nature of the darkest shade. It's not as creamy or smooth as the other two (which are exceptionally so). The middle, silver shade is the standout of the palette. The pigmentation is amaaaaaaaaazing and it's far more complex than it appears here. But that's a double edged sword because when I tried to do a smoky eye with the silver and blue, the silver was so buttery relative to the blue that the blue strangely just disappeared into it. And therein lies my problem. I have a philosophical objection to keeping a palette with an inferior shadow in it. The blue is going to be hard to use. I tested out using it as a liner on its own, and that didn't work either. So I think I'm on the hunt for a dupe for that silver and this palette is going back.
