Review: Clinique Cheek Pop in Plum

I know, these have been out for a while - but I've never tried them.  I picked one up during the Sephora VIB event and have been testing it out for a week or so.  It is beautiful to look at - the flower embossing is lovely and Clinique did a great job with the packaging. The compact is clear and substantial in feel.  A finger swatch suggests nice pigmentation and buttery texture:

But where this product falls down for me is application.  My blush brushes struggle to pick up the pigment.  It turns out, to get it to maintain that pretty flower shape, they had to bake it into some pretty hard stuff. I have better luck with stiffer brushes, but those then yield somewhat streaky results on the cheeks.  I blend it out, of course, but it's just too much work when there are better blushes out there.  Returning.
